What personal data do we collect?
Digital Newsgroup collects data from you through the website and when you use our services. A comprehensive list of when and what data Digital Newsgroup collects from you can be found below.
Newsletter
When you visit our website, you have the option to subscribe to our newsletter. By giving your consent, we can keep you informed about current developments regarding Digital Newsgroup and other information that you might find interesting. To receive our newsletter, we store the following data from you:

- If you do not have an account with us, your name and email address

What are your rights regarding personal data?
When processing and (potentially) sharing personal data, you (as the person whose data is being processed) naturally have rights. The right to port your data
When you no longer wish to use our services, you can of course choose to become a customer of another provider. They will likely also register certain data from you. To make that transition easier, the privacy law the right to ‘data portability’ recorded.
With data portability, we mean that you can take your data with you to another provider. To do this, you can have your data sent to you, after which you can reuse it with another provider. You can also ask us to send the data directly to the other provider.
The right to have your data deleted
Besides being able to take your data with you when you become a customer of another provider, you also have the right to have your data deleted if you are no longer a customer of ours. If you have given (explicit) consent for the processing of personal data, you can always request us to to withdraw this consent. If you do this, we may no longer process your personal data.
The right to restrict processing
In some cases, you may ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data (temporarily or otherwise). Valid reasons for requesting a restriction on processing include, for example, if you dispute the accuracy of the personal data or have objected to the processing of your personal data. We do not use fully automated decision-making (also known as ‘profiling’) that has significant consequences for you.

If you make a request based on any of the above rights, we may ask you to identify yourself. We request this identification information to ensure that you are the person to whom the personal data in question belongs.
Submitting a request and the deadline
If you have a request regarding one of the above rights, you can send an email to [email protected]. We will generally fulfill your request within four weeks and send a confirmation when we have received and completed it.
However, the deadline for complying with requests may be extended by two months for reasons related to specific privacy rights or the complexity of the request. If we extend this deadline, we will of course inform you in a timely manner.
Do we share your data with third parties?
We believe that we should not share your data with third parties unless it is unavoidable. Even then, we consider it important to share as little data as possible with these third parties. For this reason, we only share your data with third parties when this is permitted by current legislation and when we deem it necessary. Your data may be shared with third parties because:
- We have engaged them to process certain data;
- That is necessary to execute the agreement between you and Digital Newsgroup;
- You have given permission for this;
- We have a legitimate interest in sharing this data;

What to do if you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data?
If you have any comments or remarks regarding the processing of your personal data, you can contact us. You can also, if you are dissatisfied with how we handle your comment, file a complaint with the Personal Data Authority. This is the independent administrative body in the Netherlands established by law as the supervisor for the processing of personal data.
Suspect a data breach? Contact us immediately via [email protected]. We have a data breach protocol and are legally obligated to report within 72 hours.
How long is your data stored?
Of all the data we store, there naturally comes a time to release it. We consider this a very important part of your privacy. To ensure that we can serve you in the best possible way, that we can meet our legal obligations, while still safeguarding your privacy as much as possible, we have different retention periods.
- Accounts that have not been used for 7 years will be deleted. The information you provided when creating that account will also be deleted.
- We also keep data on your payments for 7 years, as required by the Tax Administration. After these 7 years, this data will be anonymized and used solely for internal statistics and reporting.
- We will only store your contact details that you have entered in the contact form for as long as is necessary for contact and to answer your request or question, for a maximum of 1 year after we have last had contact with you.
- We do not retain other data for longer than necessary, as we value your privacy and want to ensure it is protected as well as possible.
- Newsletter: Withdrawal of consent
After these periods, your data will be deleted or anonymized. We will only use anonymized data for internal statistics.
How is my personal data protected?
Data security is essential when storing personal data. We therefore ensure that your data always receives the best possible protection through appropriate technical and organizational measures. For example, we do this by using encryption (both during transmission and storage), strict access controls, two-factor authentication where possible, and regular security checks. In this way, we prevent loss or any form of unlawful processing, such as unauthorized access, alteration, modification, or disclosure of personal data.
